Centers of Excellence

Citizens Bariatric Center has been a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence with the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery since 2006. To earn this designation, Citizens Bariatric Center underwent a series of site inspections during which all aspects of the program's surgical processes were closely examined and data on the health outcomes was collected. Citizens Bariatric Center is also designated a Center of Excellence with OptumHealth Care Solutions, the review board for United Healthcare.

OptumHealth Care Solutions has been reviewing health care providers who have specialized in complex medical conditions since 1986. Each year, they conduct a rigorous evaluation process of medical centers throughout the country and invite only the most experienced and successful of these medical centers to be part of their Centers for Excellence networks. Only those programs deemed to be clinically superior through their evaluation process are considered for a Centers of Excellence network.

Each Center of Excellence surgical center is evaluated for:
